1. Information We Collect
When you use FridgeAudit, we collect the following information:
- Account information: Email address, name, and password when you create an account.
- Profile preferences: Dietary restrictions, allergies, cuisine preferences, calorie targets, and health goals you provide during onboarding or in settings.
- Health information you choose to enter: Body measurements and weight history, bloodwork values, supplements you take, whether you take a GLP-1 medication, and your own notes to the coach. This information is used only to build and explain your plan. It is never sold, never shared for advertising, and the App contains no advertising or tracking software. Data read from Apple Health is used only for the feature you turned on and is never used for advertising or sold.
- Fridge scan images: Photos you take of your fridge or pantry are sent to our AI service for food recognition. Images are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers.
- Usage data: Scan counts, meal plan generations, and feature usage to enforce plan limits and improve the service.
- Meal ratings: Your liked and disliked meals to personalize future meal plans.
- Pantry data: Items identified from your scans, purchase frequency, and stock status.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Generate personalized meal plans based on your ingredients and preferences.
- Provide AI-powered nutrition coaching tailored to your goals.
- Track your pantry inventory and predict shopping needs.
- Enforce subscription plan limits (free vs. Pro).
- Improve food recognition accuracy and meal plan quality.
- Send account-related communications (password resets, subscription updates).
3. AI Processing
FridgeAudit uses Anthropic's Claude AI to process fridge images and generate meal plans. When you scan your fridge:
- Your image is sent to Anthropic's API for food recognition.
- Anthropic processes the image according to their privacy policy. API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models.
- We do not permanently store your fridge images after processing.
- Your profile and health information (goals, measurements, bloodwork values, medication status, and your own notes) is also sent to Anthropic's API to write your plan's reasoning and coaching text, under the same terms.
- Dish names only, with no personal information, are sent to Google's image model to draw meal pictures.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Account data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
- API communication is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
- Authentication uses JWT tokens with 30-day expiry.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Anthropic: Fridge images and text prompts for AI processing.
- Vercel: Application hosting and serverless function execution.
- Neon: Database hosting.
- Apple: Subscription and payment processing through the App Store, and push notifications.
- Google: Dish names only, to generate meal pictures.
- Resend: Your email address, to send verification and password-reset emails.
- Upstash: Rate-limit counters keyed by account ID.
- Sentry: Error reports containing your account ID only; request contents are stripped.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data through the app's Settings page.
- Update or correct your profile information at any time.
- Delete your account and all associated data from inside the app: Profile → Delete Account.
- Export your data upon request.
7. Children's Privacy
FridgeAudit is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
